It’s hard to believe, but this August will mark the 18th year for the annual Riverfest Seaside Music Festival. The venue for this year’s festivities is Stage Fort Park in Gloucester, MA. The 2019 Riverfest Music festival is free to the public and offers live music from an impressive variety of bands that have some strong New England ties.
This year’s lineup includes Tall Heights, Mount Joy, Noah Kahan, and the headliner, Guster. The festivities will kick off at 12pm and the music schedule is as follows:
12pm -1pm – Tall Heights
1:30pm -2:30pm – Mt Joy
3:00pm – 4:00pm Noah Kahan
4:30pm – 6:00pm Guster
The headliners, Guster, formed their bands at Tufts University in Medford, MA. The band had a number of hits over the years and actually just released its first album in 4 years.
Folk-pop singer, Noah Kahan also has strong New England roots. Born and raised in Strafford, VT and attending school in New Hampshire, Noah came to prominence opening for acts such as Ben Folds, Milky Chance and the Strumbellas.
Tall Heights bandmates Paul Wright and Tim Harrington met in their hometown of Sturbridge MA and got their start busking on the Boston streets. After connecting with Ryan Montbleau after an open mic at the Lizard Lounge, the electrofolk duo came into its own.
According to 92.5 the River GM, Donald St. Sauveur, “We are incredibly excited about this year’s festival and the opportunity to showcase a line-up with strong New England connections.” We’re excited too Don, we think you have a fantastic lineup and we’re glad you brought the festival to Gloucester!
In addition to the great music and killer views of Gloucester harbor there will also be a variety of food trucks and drink vendors on site to help keep you feeling refreshed including the Bud Light Beer Garden and Tito’s Vodka RV and Lounge.
For the little ones there will also be a KidZone with inflatables, face painting and other activities.
If you’re not familiar with Stage Fort Park, the address is 24 Hough Ave, Gloucester, MA 01930. There will be limited parking on site so attendees are encouraged to take advantage of some of the alternative transportation options including: MBTA commuter rail to Gloucester, Cape Ann Transit Authority Trolleys, and the shuttlebus network that will be serving satellite parking lots at Magnolia Woods Recreational Area, the O’Malley Innovation Middle School, and Gloucester High School.
So bring your blankets, lawn chairs, bathing suits and frisbees and settle in for a great day by the water. If you get too hot you can always take a dip at nearby half moon beach.
